Now available with a choice of battery:

As standard the motors come with a 520 Wh Li-Ion rechargeable battery.  You can now choose to buy the motor with the new high capacity 915Wh Li-Ion rechargeable battery - simply select the version you want from the drop down list above.

The batteries are equipped with a USB adapter, allowing your mobile phone, laptops and other equipment to share the Travel's abundant battery capacity.

The Travel 1003 delivers over 1,000 watts of input power and in terms of propulsion is comparable with 3 HP petrol outboard.

Its name says it all. With the Travel 1003 you can discover the world on water, completely waterproof to IP67.

Thanks to the on-board computer with its GPS-based calculation of the remaining range, you always have your own travel guide with you.

Compared with the Travel 503, the Travel 1003 has higher overall power and offers over 60% more battery capacity, enabling a greater range.

Available in long and short shaft versions.
  • Integrated GPS and information system: provides precise real-time information on battery charge status, remaining range at current speed, speed over ground and power consumption (GPS receiver located in the battery, information display located in the tiller).
  • Charging socket and USB port - for charging with onshore power, from 12 V battery or solar. The Travel can also be used as a power source for smartphones, lamps etc. via a USB adapter
  • Improved mechanical stability, ruggedness and suitability for salt water use.
  • 20% higher power and approx. 10% higher efficiency, noiseless design.
  • Corrosion-free design, does not require a sacrificial anode
  • Auto-kickup feature in case of grounding
  • 30% higher battery capacity (Travel 1003 model)
  • All models can be solar-charged during operation.
  • Audible alarm warns when battery charge status reaches 30%
  • Fully waterproof design, IP 67 (all components can be submersed for 1 hour at 1 m below surface without any harm.
Information on range and speed

When travelling through water, displacement increases power required in proportion to the cube (third power) of the speed. This means that doubling water speed increases the power required eightfold.

Conversely, it of course also means that only a slight reduction in speed will increase the range attainable significantly. Simply reducing speed by e.g. half a knot has a considerable effect on the remaining range.

Since mental arithmetic to the power of three is quite tricky, the on-board computer of the Travel constantly calculates the remaining range for you. To do this, it combines the consumption data from the motor with the charge level of the batteries together with the speed over water obtained via GPS. This means you can read the remaining range in real time from the Travel's display. Using the TorqTrac App you can even read the remaining range from a map on your smartphone.

* Torqeedo static thrust measurement is based on internationally accepted ISO standards. Static thrust figures for conventional trolling motors are typically measured differently, which results in higher values. To compare Torqeedo static thrust data with conventional trolling motors, add approximately 50% to the Torqeedo static thrust values.

Customer reviews
Shaft Length & Battery Capacity : Short Shaft with 915Wh battery - Price 1,570
Really good heavy duty quality. Excellent power output.

Shaft Length : Short Shaft with 520Wh battery - Price 1,195
Disappointed by poor casting alignment and fit of external components for this premium priced product. (Presumably tolerances are better internally.)
Low power tank testing indicated good low speed controllability and low noise levels. (Full test not expected until spring)
Battery charge at about 26% on delivery lower than expected.
It may yet prove to be a 5 star performer?

Shaft Length : Long Shaft with 915Wh battery - Price 1,540
Perfect so far. Runs quietly and reliably, and battery life / range seems OK too.
Shaft Length : Short Shaft - Price 1,195
Well made bit of kit but battery life is low even taking all factors into consideration. Sadly you will need another battery to be able to consider replacing completely your old noisy, smelly oil dripping outboard! An investment I will make when I can get over the price of one again..
(Its the only reason I haven't rated the item higher).

Shaft Length : Short Shaft - Price 1,200
Although it has not taken to the water yet (February in England is not conducive),my new Torqeedo Travel seems to be well made and I'm certainly looking forward to an opportunity to use it.

Have received a short shaft but on an inflatable seems too long. Still drags on ground when retrieving the dingy on the beach.????
